History
Over 80 years ago, renowned Adelaide builder George Bernard Otto, who at that time was building one house per week, set up a building supply company to compliment his building business. His knowledge of the building industry and timber supply has been passed down within the family ever since. Sadly, George died aged 42 but he passed on his love of timber to son Max.
Max ran the business for a further 50 years; forging Otto & Co’s passion for fancy timbers – at one time we had over 100 species of timber to choose from.
Max’s son Ken – Otto & Co’s current Managing Director and grandson of founder George – started with the business age 21 and has since clocked up over 30 years of experience. Ken took over the business in 2004 and maintains to this day his passion for working with timber. Fourth generation Nathan is now also producing some fine wood turning.
